Wow,
Its so hard to put into words all that happened in Mexico.

As a leader I had the privilege of getting to know so many of the students on this trip. I feel like I connect and made friendships that are going to last a long time. A cool part was getting to know a lot of the pathfinders who are moving up or will be moving up. Hopefully when they get to Refuge they will feel comfortable and already connected.

One thing that was so amazing was to see how every one changed over 6 days. God planted dreams in people’s heart for Mexico, for children for ministry, and all of us definitely got an appreciate for all God has given us. Students got to speak, and share their faith. We were able to minister to people who couldn’t understand us, but through God we touched their lives. We had fun with kids that we couldn’t talk to, and we didn’t have electronics or movies, or anything. We played soccer, painted faces… God took simple things that most kids in America would say are boring to touch the lives of the kids in Mexico. Though I wasn’t attached to any particular one, I cried when we left. I had such a burden around my heart the day after we came back. I have been praying that God would make the burden for souls greater than anything else, so that nothing would stop me from sharing His love with others. I truly came back realizing what truly is important, and that most things we make a big deal about aren’t that big of a deal.

Over the trip was amazing. I can’t wait for next year.

I just want to say what an awesome experience it was for me. The hearts of the
people there are so hungry for God and they are such humble people. I love to meet
and love on the people of Mexico. I love them so much!

What really touched my heart, was the teenagers loving on the children. They got to
spend time and get to know some of these children very well. They fell in love with
them and cried when they had to leave them. The Mexican children cried also. I
remember Tyler coming inside saying "They are all crying outside". The teenagers
were praying for the children and they all started crying. The ride back to the
hotel on that last day of the trip was so quiet. All the teenagers were so sad and
broken.

The missionary and his wife were awesome as well as the pastor and his wife. We had
a wonderful time getting to know them and serving with them.

They had such dedicated ladies helping every day to feed us the most wonderful
authentic mexican food. We felt so honored for the special treatment.

Tyler was an awesome leader! He did a wonderful job organizing and leading this
trip. I don't think it could have been any better.

I can't wait until I can go back! But, not without the teenagers!

Well when I went to Mexico , everyone was telling me... it'll make a big impact on your life, you'll have a great time, or don't drink the water ( the most common, just joking...haha) well I do have a better heart,my mind expanded to more possiblities ,it did make a big impact on my life, and I had the most wonderful time of my whole entire life! My heart has grown to love everyone and anyone . Everytime I go to church I see someone I know now which it feels good to me cause during the whole trip everyone was saying that I was such a blessing to go on the trip and what I learned the most about was love on this trip - the group was there for me I was there for them we all bonded in a special way and the way the brothers and sisters shared in Mexico and thanked and was truly greatful for what they had so they were awesome. Ever since I was a child I always wanted to be a psychologists. The people on the trip said you have a much bigger heart than a job for a psychologists and I'm glad they told me that cause it was probably God talking to me, so I want to become a missionary for so country that needs help. And I am so glad that everyone was able to act the way they did cause this trip wouldn't have worked with all of us. Like someone said in early morning prayer, "we are all parts of Jesus and when we work through him we are doing his work and changing this world that we live in . It's great to know that people are out there changing the world. And I am glad to be one of those people. It don't have to be the actual world but maybe your world or someone else's world. I want to thank HPC for helping me and giving me the strength, faith and power to change the world. See you later, Love madelyn

update from carrie cook

This isn't earth-shattering news, but I was so excited to hear from my son after two days, I thought I would pass on what little information I had. I've been watching the blog every day (actually Monday it was every couple of hours) and there just isn't enough information! HA! Next time, I think I'll just go with them!

Brance called at 10:15 tonight and said they went to Allende (I am not sure if this is spelled right. Reception was bad. Maybe Aiende?) today. They left this at 7:15 this morning and had just gotten back. They did VBS this morning and our kids evidently helped cook for everyone this evening. Brance told me that there is a "posse" of kids outside Pastor John's house waiting for piggyback rides. He has, without a doubt, fallen in love with the kids. He calls a lot of them by name. I'm not sure he wants to come home. Ha! He actually told me quite a bit more, but he was breaking up, so I'm peicing together what I can. He did say that everyone was having a blast, and he sounded very pumped up.

I just received a phone call from them that gave a quick update on how the trip is going. The team arrived in Del Rio, TX at 11am Sunday morning. They enjoyed a lunch at Mr. Gatti’s and then, got ready to cross the border into Acuna, MX. Yesterday, they had their first outreach in Mexico, a VBS at Movimiento De Fe; a church in Acuna, MX. About 70 people were in attendance…. Last night, our missionary contact, John Novara, met with the kids and explained to them what it means to be a missionary, and from this meeting, some of our HPC kids feel like they may be called to be missionaries themselves!

Last night, our kids had their first street meeting. They set up a sound system, played with the neighborhood kids, and did their dramas. 100 people were in attendance! Tonight, they’re driving about 1 ∏ hours out to the small town of Allende to cook for a new church plant. Please keep Candace Urban in your prayers, as she will be preaching at tonight’s service.

Tyler also asks that we keep their street meetings and VBS in our prayers, and more specificially, pray for the anointing and for God to move at each of their outreaches….

All in all, the kids are doing great, and the trip has been amazing!

More updates to come….

update from cheri leblanc...

I just heard from Heather at 8:30pm Sunday night. They had just had supper at the pastor's house. She said the food was great! Then they went outside and started "talking" to the children. They have experienced the frustration and fun of trying to communicate with others when you can't speak their language. She sounded so excited!

I can't wait to see how God is going to grow our children.

two hours out

well, as of about 8:30am they were about two hours from del rio (according to a txt message i got from tori). they had already stopped for breakfast and apparently lizzy and cj were well on their way to winning the energizer bunny awards for the trip out there.

i'll post some pics in a little while from last night's pre-departure gathering, and as soon as i get another update from them, i'll post it here. if you have more current info, feel free to hit the comment link below and share your news.

i'm usually the one that is going and the family all stays home. this is one of my first times to be on this side of things since i was a kid and i'm not sure i like it. but i am proud - as all the parents and families of the mexico team should be.

and all of you (families and others) who helped send them and are committed to pray for them on this mission, THANKS!

one day out....

(message from candace)

Friends,

I am so pumped about the trip! It blesses my heart to see you all at prayer every morning. I am sorry I had to leave early for work almost everyday. I wanted to share something God is sharing with me. Remember why we are going. We are going because we have been changed. God took our messed up lives and made all things new. He gave us beauty for ashes and a garment of praise for our heaviness. I believe He has the same
plan for each heart we encounter in Mexico! Get ready! You are the hands and feet of our savior! I love you! See you tomorrow night at 10!!!!!!

Partnering with you to change the world,

Candace

The spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord's favor has come, and with it, the day of God's anger aginst their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give
beauty for ashes, joy instead of mourning, praise instead of despair. For the Lord has planted them like strong and graceful oaks for his own glory.
Isaiah 61:1-3
